Journal of Educational, Health, and Community Psychology (JEHCP) published an article, and empirical study that have originality, novelty and fill the gap of knowledge, that focused on educational psychology, health psychology and community psychology. JEHCP is an open access peer reviewed, multidisciplinary journal that publishes quality studies related to psychology. JEHCP is interdisciplinary in approach, and includes to reports of qualitative case studies, quantitative experiments and surveys, mixed method studies, action researches, meta-analyses, and discussions of conceptual and methodological issues. The field of educational psychology includes the effectiveness of educational interventions, the psychology of teaching, and the social psychology of schools as organizations, motor skills and other psycho-physiological processes; cognitive development involving areas such as problem solving, language acquisition; social, personality, and emotional development; self-concept and identity formation. The field of Health Psychology includes the stress-related ilnesses, the health coping strategy, resiliency, work on health attitudes and behaviour, health locus of control, quality of life in chronic disease, influence of emotion on health and health-related behaviours, psychological interventions in health and disease as well as psychological aspects of prevention. The field of Community Psychology includes research, evaluation, assessment and intervention, and review articles that deal with human behavior in community settings. Articles of interest include descriptions and evaluations of service programs and projects, studies of youth, parenting, and family development, methodology and design for work in the community, the interaction of groups in the larger community, and criminals and corrections.

Abstract

Siblings play a significant role in the process of forming identity among adolescents. Therefore, this research examined the role of sibling characteristics such as gender and order of birth in moderating the quality of relations among siblings and adolescent identity formation. The respondents were adolescents aged 12-21 years, with at least one sibling having a maximum age gap of 4 years. The data collection technique used two measurement scales involving the warmth and closeness subscale in the Sibling Relationship Questionnaire and The Utrecht-Management of Identity Commitments Scale. Additionally, the hypothesis was tested using a tiered regression test. The analysis showed the role of same-gender characteristics and birth order strengthens the relationship between siblings with three aspects of identity formation, including commitment, in-depth exploration, and reconsideration of commitment. This finding indicates that adolescents having same-gender and older siblings have better relationship qualities that contribute to a more optimal identity formation.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the relationship between religiosity and authoritative parenting style and the meaningfulness of student life. This study used quantitative tests. It gathers 132 students from the Faculty of Psychology of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan with an age range of 18 to 25 years. The sample was collected through proportional cluster random sampling with a proportion of 10% of the population. Three scales were used, namely the religiosity scale, authoritative parenting scale, and life meaningfulness scale. All data that has been collected was immediately analyzed using SPSS version 20. To test the hypotheses of this study, multiple linear regression analysis was used to determine the effect and the extent to which religiosity and authoritative parenting style contribute to life meaningfulness. All hypotheses were shown to be significant starting from the finding of a significant relationship between religiosity and life meaningfulness. Furthermore, there is a significant relationship between an authoritative parenting style and life meaningfulness. Life meaningfulness is achieved by recognizing and understanding God and then acting or behaving according to His words. Religiosity reflects the personality and early family upbringing. The authoritative parenting style applied during childhood may well continue until college. Religiosity and an authoritative parenting style may encourage an individual to make sense of every process, problem, sadness, or happiness and learn to be a better person. Life meaningfulness is correlated positively with religiosity and authoritative parenting style. This independent variable describes religiosity as consistently appreciating and bringing oneself closer to God and authoritative parents as being able to foster individual awareness to perceive the condition in accordance with appropriate understanding and action.Keyword: religiosity, authoritative parenting, positive relationship, meaningfulness

Abstract

Earthquakes, tsunami, and soil liquefaction struck Palu, Central Sulawesi on September 28th, 2018. This study case aims to identify psychosocial issues among adolescents following the devastating disaster. Qualitative data were collected through in-depth interviews with five survivors aged 16 to 17 years old. Participants reported trauma, anxiety, and grief. Nonetheless, they developed positive coping mechanisms to help them adapt to post-disaster situations. Families contributed by providing a safe and comfortable space, while schools played role in delivering post-disaster education. The findings imply that a psychosocial intervention needs to be developed for adolescents who are to this day still struggling with the psychological consequences of the natural catastrophe.

Abstract

 Professional psychologists provide services for clients to heal. Thus, it is important for professional psychology graduate students to have altruism, or a trait in which individuals are consistently more generous, helpful, and kind than the average people. To have altruism, students must have resilience, namely the ability to rise in the face of stressful situations with the following dimensions: (a) personal competence; (b) tolerance to adverse effects; (c) acceptance of changes; (d) control; and (e) spiritual beliefs. The purpose of this study was to examine the role of resilience to altruism. The research took data from 104 students, and data processing was done by linear regression. It was found that overall resilience played a role in altruism. If viewed per dimension, the only dimensions significantly impacting altruism were tolerance to adverse effects and control. Further research can explore the relationship between resilience and altruism in other service-providing professionals.Keywords: Altruism, resilience, professional psychology, graduate students

Abstract

This study was aimed to determine the relationship between emotional competence, family social support and parental stress in mothers of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This research was a quantitative research with correlational method. Purposive sampling technique by distributing questionnaires using Google form resulted in a total of 165 participants who are mothers of children with ASD, as members of therapy centers and schools for children with special needs in Semarang, Solo and Yogyakarta. The data were analyzed using structural equation model (SEM) technique on Lisrel program. This research resulted in two models showing that there are fit model with empirical data. The first model shows that each of emotional competence and family social support had a significant effect on parental stress in mothers of children with ASD. The second model shows the influence of emotional competence on the stress of parenting of children with ASD, with family social support as a moderating variable. The implications of this study are empirical evidence on the importance of family social support and emotional competence for mothers in raising children with ASD to prevent excessive parental stress.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic forces policy changes to move learning activities from school to home and change the learning model. It is implied students are burdened with homework assignments, both from family and school, which make them experience stress. This study aims to analyze the stress level of university students during the early Covid-19 pandemic in West Java, Indonesia. This study used quantitative with cross-sectional design. The study took place in March-April 2020, 1 to 2 months after the first case of Covid-19 in Indonesia. A total of 330 students were taken as subjects in this study purposively. The instrument used was a questionnaire with the Google form spread by social media. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test. Most of the students had moderate stress levels (78.8%), and 16.7% had severe stress.Keywords: Covid-19, stress level, university student

Abstract

Achieving life satisfaction is the hope of every person, including lecturers. Based on preliminary study, problem of life satisfaction of PTKK lecturers is a real phenomenon but has never been studied scientifically so far. This study aims to examine the life satisfaction model of PTKK lecturers in terms of religiosity, self-efficacy, social support, and perceived organizational support with the meaning of work as a mediator variable. The research method used in this research is quantitative correlational with participants are 252 lecturers from 41 Christian theological seminaries in East Java. This study uses six instruments to measure each variable and the data analyzed using the SEM-PLS technique. Based on the R2 value for the endogenous variables, it was found that meaning of work got significant positive effect of 36.8% from the independent variables. While the R2 value for the life satisfaction variable is 0.259, which means that life satisfaction can be explained by variance in the independent variables of 25.9%. The results of the research hypothesis indicate that religiosity and self-efficacy have an indirect effect on life satisfaction with the meaning of work as a full mediator, while social support does not affect the meaning of work and life satisfaction. This study also proves that perceived organizational support has a direct and indirect effect on life satisfaction with the meaning of work as a partial mediator. This research result is expected to enhance efforts to increase life satisfaction of lecturers from Christian theological seminaries in East Java.

Abstract

 Entrepreneurial mental readiness is an important thing that students need to have before starting a business. The results of the initial assessment show that students have low entrepreneurial mental readiness. Given the importance of mental readiness in entrepreneurship, the researchers arranged training in prophetic entrepreneurship to improve the students' mental readiness for entrepreneurship at UIN Antasari Banjarmasin. There were 82 research subjects, then divided into experimental and control groups each consisting of 41 people. The design used in this study was an untreated control group design with pre-test and post-test. Data analysis was carried out using Paired Sample T-Test to determine the effect of training prophetic entrepreneurship on the experimental and control groups before and after the training. The results of the analysis show that training prophetic entrepreneurship can improve student entrepreneurship mental readiness with an effectiveness of 57%.Keywords: Prophetic Entrepreneurship, Mental Readiness, Entrepreneurship

Abstract

The strategic role of leadership on organizational performance is the reason why this topic continues to be researched in research and practical studies. Female leaders in Indonesia are still faced with the problem of a narrow symbolic idealization perspective such as feeling it is impossible to achieve success in both the domestic and public fields, and also feeling guilty for violating. The nature of women Therefore, awareness of the power of work and family is important for female leaders because by creating positive feelings, individuals will have a broad perspective in influencing other roles and aspects of their lives. Work family strength (WFS) is a positive experience brought from work roles as well as roles in the family. For that we need a measurement related to work family strength (WFS). So far, research related to female leaders is more related to work family conflict, for this reason the research provides updates related to positive things, namely work family strength, especially in measuring tools. The absence of adaptation in other languages is deemed necessary to adapt the work family strength scale in Indonesian. Adaptation is carried out based on the guidelines for adapting measuring instruments from the International Test Commission (ITC), which includes a forward - backward translation process, followed by expert review to test language and conceptual equivalence. The validation process is carried out by testing content validity, through the Content Validity Index (CVI), and construct validity, using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). The trial was conducted on 300 female leaders who work in for-profit companies, who work more than 40 hours/week and have families (husbands or children). Based on this trial process, it is known that each indicator, dimension, and construct meets all the criteria for Goodness of Fit (RMSEA < 0.08; CFI > 0.9). In addition, the value of Construct Reliability (CR) > 0.70 and Average Variance Extracted (AVE) > 0.50 were also obtained. Abstract

Increasing knowledge about traffic is one solution to reduce the number of traffic accidents, especially for children. This research aimed to figure to examine the effectiveness of Get Skado App to increase traffic knowledge in children. The method used was a quasi-experiment with a pre-post control group design. The population of this research consists of 18 kindergarten students which were split into an experimental group and a controlled group. The experimental group was given Get Skado treatment. To measure the result, there was a traffic knowledge scale used in the pretest and posttest. The result was analyzed by using an independent t-test sample and paired t-test sample. The result of the research showed that there was significant traffic knowledge between pretest and post-test scores within the experimental group. Meanwhile, within the controlled group, no significant traffic knowledge was found. It can be concluded that Get Skado app can increase the traffic knowledge in children.Keywords:traffic knowledge, Children, get skado
